Bermuda athletes got their Caribbean Games got underway in Guadeloupe.
The Track and Field took place as well as the Cycling Time Trial.
Competing in the Men’s 1500 Meter Run Ryan Outerbridge finished 4th clocking a time of 3:59.58, while Mikal Dill competed in the Men’s Long Jump, he finished 6th with a leap of 6:54m.
In the Men’s Individual Time Trial, Liam Flannery finished 4th and Nic Narraway was 5th in very difficult conditions.
There is a storm moving through the area and Flannery was second to start, giving him dry roads for the first 75% of his ride. But strong winds brought hard rain and within the last kilometer he lost control in a corner and slid out. He was able to get back on the bike after a bit but the crash certainly cost him a podium result.
Narraway started towards the end of the 28 competitors and while the heaviest rain and wind had gone through, the roads were covered in debris and there were puddles in all the corners. Despite this, he turned in an excellent ride which brought him within 7 seconds of Flannery.
