During a presentation inside the Department of Sport and Recreation Boardroom, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport Owen Darrell hosted Elite Athletes who won Medals recently at the Pan American and Para Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
Conor White, Jessica Lewis, and Yushae DeSilva-Andrade were all present to meet the Minister and receive a total of $22.000.00.
White won Bermuda's only Medal of the Pan American Games, competing in the Pan American Games Men’s Cycling Individual Time Trial, White clocked a time of 48:13.96 to win the Bronze Medal and earn $4,500.00.
In the sport of Boccia, DeSilva-Andrade would win a Silver Medal at the Para Pan American Games, DeSilva-Andrade would go down in the Gold Medal match to Andreza De Oliviera from Brazil in a tie-breaker after the match finished 3 – 3, and she received $7,500.00.
Defending Gold Medalist and Para Pan American Games Record Holder Jessica Lewis, captured her third consecutive 100m Para Pan American Games Gold Medal.
Lewis on the Centro Atlético Mario Recordón National Stadium Track in Chile clocked a New T53 Women’s 100m record time of 16.71, Lewis collected a cheque for $10,000.00.
