The Montreal World Boccia Cup is underway with Para Olympian Yushae DeSilva-Andrade and Omar Hayward both in action.
Athletes from 22 Countries are competing in Montreal including many of the top players who will be competing in the Paralympics in August. This is a great opportunity for athletes to see what level they are at early in the season.
In her opening BC1 Female Pool B match DeSilva-Andrade defeated world number 15 Aurélie Aubert from France 5 – 2.
DeSilva-Andrade got off to a great start winning 2 points in both the first 2 ends to go 4-0 up at the halfway mark. Both players received a point each in the 3rd end and the French player scored 1 point in the final end.
Hayward faced off against World Number 6 John Loung from Hong Kong later a BC1 Men's Pool C battle.
Hayward would fall 15 – 2 to the world-ranked 6th player.
