Two Sporting Organizations have benefited from the Hamilton Insurance Group, a Bermuda-based holding company for insurance and reinsurance operations in Bermuda, the US and the UK.
Hamilton Insurance Group, announced the names of the Bermuda-registered charities supported by its Community Giving Committee during 2016.
Funding was distributed among nine organizations meeting the criteria outlined by the committee when it was established in December 2014.
“We’re pleased that after two years of operations, our efforts to support effective Bermuda-registered charities has contributed to the well-being of our community,” said Hamilton Re CFO and Committee Chair Vanessa Hardy Pickering.
“The organizations we fund are providing meaningful programmes and services in the fields of sports, the arts, social services and academics, and we are pleased to have enabled the work they do for Bermuda.”
The two sporting organizations awarded were the Bermuda National Athletic Association and the Bermuda Paralympic Association.
Hardy Pickering, who has completed her term as Chair but will be remaining on the committee, noted that members will take a hiatus from considering funding applications during the first quarter of 2017 to undertake strategic planning.
“After two years of reviewing requests from Bermuda’s charitable sector, we feel it is time to pause and review our objectives in order to identify where and how we can have the most impact.”
Hardy Pickering noted that Ebony Brockington, Assistant Underwriter, Property at Hamilton Re, has also completed her term on the committee and will be stepping down. As of January 1st, 2017, Hamilton’s Chief Communications Officer Wendy Davis Johnson will assume the role of Chair of the Community Giving Committee.
