Bermuda Carifta Games Spotlight - Ryan Outerbridge

With the Bermuda CARIFTA GAMES team announced, Islandstats.com will begin the countdown to the Games with a Spotlight on each Athlete that will represent Bermuda.

Today we bring you Ryan Outerbridge.

Name: Ryan Outerbridge

Date of Birth: December 17, 2002

Sport: Middle/Long Distance Runner


Q. What is something many people don’t know about you?

A.
I can’t think of anything.

Q. How did you first get involved in your Sport?

A.
My dad was a competitive sprinter so he always talked about running. When my sister joined Bermuda Pacers Track Club, I used to run with the older athletes in their training sessions just for fun before I was old enough to officially join the club.

Q. Do you have a particular Sports idol?

A.
Mohamed Farah, Britain’s leading distance runner.

Q. When did you realize that you wanted Compete Internationally?

A.
I’ve always wanted to compete internationally from the time I first started running.

Q. What do you feel needs the most improvement?

A.
I think I can improve on my speed so that I can have a stronger finish.

Q. Which do you feel needs the least improvement?

A.
I have a lot of endurance but there is always room for improvement.

Q. What one moment in your Sport to date are you most proud of?

A.
Qualifying for the Carifta Games for the first time in 2017.

Q. What are your goals for the rest of Year?

A.
I want to medal in the 2018 Carifta Games in Bahamas.

Q. Can you give an insight into an average week of training for you?

A.
I train with Bermuda Pacers TC four times a week. I also cycle with Berkeley Institute’s cycling club twice a week. I try to fit in a long run on the weekends when there are no track meets.

Q. Is this your first Carifta Games?

A.
No, I competed in the 1500m in 2017.

Q. What do you do when you’re not taking part in your Sport?

A
. I watch Youtube videos of past track events and enjoy watching different types of sports.
