Anthony Martial's third goal in as many Premier League matches earned second-placed Manchester United a 1-0 victory against Nahki Wells and his Burnley teammates as they kept up the pressure on leaders Manchester City.
Having failed to register a shot on target in the first half, Martial fired the winner in off the crossbar nine minutes after the break as United picked up their second win since City's first top-flight loss of the campaign at Liverpool last Sunday.
Wells came off the bench in the 89th minute of the match,
Stevenage extended their unbeaten home run to 10 games with a 0-0 draw against Reggie Lambe and his Carlisle United teammates.
Loanee goalkeeper Tom King made a number of good saves throughout for the hosts, most notably parrying Danny Grainger's powerful free kick from 25 yards in first-half stoppage time.
United striker Sam Cosgrove shot straight at the Stevenage goalkeeper with an attempted chip when through on goal after 30 minutes, in what proved to be the game's best chance.
