Bermudian equestrian Tyler James has concluded his debut year on the United States competitive circuit with a series of standout performances at the Aiken December Classic. Competing at Bruce’s Field Horse Park in South Carolina, James demonstrated the consistency that has defined his first full season of overseas competition.
Under the guidance of coach Wendy Arndt and Team I.E.C., James enjoyed a highly productive week aboard his primary mount, Cruise Control. The pair secured two runner-up finishes, placing second in both the USHJA 3’3” Adult Jump Seat Medal and the THIS/NHS Adult Medal. They added to their ribbon haul with a fifth-place finish in the Ariat Medal, further establishing their presence in the equitation divisions.
The meet also marked a significant milestone for James' second horse, Zero to Sixty, who made its competitive debut in the United States. The pair produced steady results across the 0.90m and 1.0m Amateur Jumper divisions, successfully navigating their first classes on American soil.
This final outing in Aiken serves as a strong conclusion to 2025 for James, who has enjoyed a landmark year. Since moving his base to the U.S. circuit, the Bermudian has qualified for national finals and delivered consistent clear rounds at major venues, including the Kentucky Horse Park and the Aiken Fall Festival.
James and Team I.E.C. will now head into the winter break before beginning their 2026 campaign, where he is expected to build on this year's foundational success in both the hunter and jumper rings.
