The Bermuda Dressage Association (BDA) successfully launched its competitive calendar with the first Dressage Show of the season at the National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street this weekend. Riders competed under the expert scrutiny of visiting international judge Noel Williams from Maryland.
The high scores posted across the board underscored the strong start to the season, with two riders standing out to claim the top honours in their respective divisions.
The coveted title of Adult Top Scorer went to Peta White, who delivered a polished performance aboard Causing Chaos. The pair earned an impressive score of 72.069 points, setting a high benchmark for the competitive season ahead.
In the youth division, Julia Cunningham claimed the Junior Top Scorer title. Riding Mr. Worldwide, Cunningham posted a stellar score of 78.75 points, signalling her intent to dominate the junior circuit this year.
The show also celebrated several moments of technical excellence and personal milestones:
A special commendation goes to Grace Lightowler for successfully tackling a major career landmark: riding her first FEI Prix St Georges test. This is a crucial step up to the highest level of international dressage competition. Two young riders achieved rare perfection in the arena. Both Riley Richardson and Julia Cunningham earned scores of a perfect 10 for their halts, a testament to their precise training and the immaculate discipline of their horses.
BDA officials noted that the turnout and quality of riding were highly encouraging for the remainder of the 2025 season.
