The combined team from the Caribbean Equestrian Academy, with riders from Bermuda and the Bahamas, experienced mixed fortunes on the second day of competition at the Grand Caraibe International Jumping Competition in Martinique.
Bermuda's Rai Burch and Mckeisha Smith continued to test their skills against a challenging field of international riders.
Burch, riding Escabanite D Plage AA, faced another difficult course in the Grand Prix Class. Unfortunately, the pair were eliminated from the competition.
Smith, mounted on Valentino Des Graves, tackled the Elite Division once again. She delivered an improved performance, finishing 17th with a time of 64.74. However, she incurred four penalty fault points, which ultimately affected her overall placing.
In the Junior Division, Alana Pyfrom, representing the Bahamas, rode Eutegee Gavotine to a ninth-place finish. Pyfrom completed the course in 58.72 but also incurred four penalty fault points. The other member of the Academy team, Anouk Formige, did not compete on the second day.
Despite the challenges faced by some riders, the Caribbean Equestrian Academy team continues to gain valuable experience at this prestigious international competition. Their participation highlights the growing talent and dedication within the region's equestrian community.
