A combined team from the Caribbean Equestrian Academy, featuring riders from Bermuda and the Bahamas, is competing in the latest round of the Grand Caraibe International Jumping Competition in Martinique.
Representing Bermuda are Rai Burch and Mckeisha Smith, who are showcasing their skills against a competitive field of international riders.
Burch, riding Escabanite D Plage AA, competed in the Grand Prix Class, a challenging course with high jumps and technical obstacles. He finished in a commendable sixth place, incurring four penalty fault points and completing the course in a time of 29.31.
Smith, mounted on Valentino Des Graves, tackled the Elite Division, another demanding course requiring precision and control. She finished 31st with a time of 43.76, but unfortunately incurred nine penalty fault points.
The other two members of the Academy team, Alana Pyform riding Eutegee Gavotine finished 11th with a time of 30.31, but they had 4 Penalty Fault Points competing in the Junior Division, while Anouk Formige riding Go Fast were Eliminated in the same Division.
Despite the challenges, both Burch and Smith demonstrated their talent and horsemanship at this prestigious international competition. Their participation in the Grand Caraibe Jumping Competition highlights the growing strength of equestrian sport in Bermuda and the Caribbean region.
