The Warwick Football Academy (WFA) announced the appointment of Dennis Brown.

WFA welcomes our newly appointed Director of Coaching and Skills Development Dennis Brown to the club.

Making the announcement was Richard Todd the WFA Technical Director who said, “We are pleased to have Brown back in the fold with the Warwick Football program. He was very instrumental in establishing and leading the previous Warwick Archers program for Under 13 + teams prior to the merger of the Archers and Warwick Academy Football clubs in 2023.

Brown will assume responsibility for the management and development of WFA coaches so that they can maximize player potential at all age groups. He will be the lead for staff recruitment, tactical and technical development, and staff assignments, management, evaluations, and the team formation approvals moving forward.

Brown will help to shape & implement the WFA club culture, coaching methodology and philosophy, including tactical, technical, physical and psychosocial benchmarks at each age level.

In addition he is also responsible for the development and implementation of the club’s Performance Academy Skills Development Programs, which aim to increase the technical efficiency of players to enhance their individual ball mastery, confidence and creativity in possession of the ball.

Brown has a rich history and legacy in the sport of football in Bermuda with proven success as a player and coach.

Brown played his football at Somerset Cricket Club where he emerged during the glory days as a young player into the program referred to as “Silver City” for the history of success the club experienced during the 1970s and 80s.

He joined the Senior Men’s National team at the age of 16 and would go on to captain both his club and country over the course of a storied career.

He was the captain of the Somerset Trojans team that won three consecutive Premier Division titles from 1982 to 1984 and also guided them to their last FA Cup triumph in 1990.

Upon retiring from playing Brown would assume coaching responsibilities with Somerset Trojans and enjoyed considerable success during coaching stints at Devonshire Cougars and Wolves.

He coached Wolves to Dudley Eve Trophy and Martonmere Cup honors and Devonshire Cougars to the coveted “Triple Crown” of League, FA Cup and Friendship Trophies in the 2012/13 season.

Brown has coached alongside Andrew Bascome with the senior Bermuda Men’s team, in addition to serving as head coach for the Under 20’s.

He established the Bermuda Brazilian Football School where he focused on developing young players from across Bermuda, and continues to provide opportunities for players to enhance their skills and gain exposure to football outside of Bermuda through international travel tours and tournaments hosted locally.

Brown has served on the executive of the Bermuda Football Coaches Association and assumed the role of President when WFA Technical Director Richard Todd stepped down from the role in 2023.

Brown also is a member of the Player Development Committee of the Bermuda Football Association.

In his professional career Brown served as a corrections officer for the Bermuda Department of Corrections and Prisons. He retired in 2016 after 31 years of service, rising to the rank of Principal Officer.

Throughout his time in the service Brown used football as a means to help reach and rehabilitate young offenders. He continues to provide programs to inmates incarcerated to gain coaching education and certification, encouraging them to become positively involved in communities through the sport.

Upon leaving the Warwick Archers program in 2019 he returned to Somerset to serve as Technical Director for the club.

The appointment of Brown brings an individual with a wealth of experience and knowledge back into the fold at Warwick Football Academy.
