In partnership with XL Group and the Bermuda Rugby Football Union, the team of coaches from Serevi Rugby are headed back to Bermuda from April 29th – May 5th for the next round of development and training sessions with newcomers to the sport, as well as the nation’s top male and female players.
The visit kicks off the 2nd of a 3-year partnership to increase participation in rugby for children across Bermuda and develop the skills of the national teams to compete at the highest levels of international rugby. The main focus of the first visit in 2014 is to build youth programs across the country, or “GrowTheGame" as Serevi likes to say and to track on social media.
In a direct grassroots efforts to Grow the Game, Team Serevi will visit eight schools across the island including Berkeley, Saltus High, Warwick Academy, Bermuda Institute, T N Tatem , Whitney Institute, Sandys and Clearwater Middle Schools.
School visits will include interactive, hands-on demos from all-star coaches, skill practice for Boys and Girls, and autograph signings.
Serevi coaches leading this visit include English legend and all-time IRB 7s points scorer Ben Gollings, former USA Eagle Pate Tuilevuka and current USA Eagle Shawn Pittman.
These leading coaches will also share their knowledge of the game and Develop the skills of the Bermudian Men’s, Women’s, Under 16, Under 19, and National Team coaches through evening sessions with each team.
