World Tens Owe Bermuda Vendors Thousands

Dark Days for World Tens
IslandStats.com
www.islandstats.com has been made aware of concerns of vendors who have not been paid from the World Tens Series that took place at the National Sports Center, back in October & November 2020.

The Bermuda Rugby Football Union was threatened with an International Suspension and fine from the Governing Body of World Rugby if they had sanctioned the event as the Governing Body expressed concerns.

World Tens Series officials worked with the Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA), to make the tournament a reality on the island, but they were short of players, thus having to utilize several players from Bermuda filling in the blanks.

www.islandstats.com reached out to Hazel Clark the BTA Director of Sports Business Development to ask for a statement, "We have been made aware of outstanding payments owed to local vendors by the organizing body. These vendor contracts are private arrangements between businesses and the World Tens organization—the Bermuda Tourism Authority is not a party to them. Nonetheless, we are actively advocating for a fair and speedy resolution. The organizers indicate they are working to resolve these outstanding debts in Bermuda and there has been progress, but based on our dialogue with stakeholders, the progress has not been good enough. The BTA is withholding post-event sponsorship payments until we are confident local vendors will be made whole.”
