Who would've guessed that today’s would be perfect, add a bit of wind, not too cold, mud from yesterday’s epic rain, and sunny skies, mix it all together and you get perfect weather conditions for Race 8 of the Flying Colours Mountain Bike Race (MTB) Series presented by Beck’s Beer and Furniture Walk.
The race was held in the East End of the island at Ferry Reach Park. One of the best locations to race or even just to ride MTB. In the Male A Division Robin Horsfield crossed the line 1st covering the 7 laps in 1:19:59.0, Matthew Oliveira was 2nd in 1:21:39.7 and Adam Kirk finished in 3rd one lap down.
The Female Novice winner was Wenda Roberts covering the 4 lap distance in40:28.410, Earlena Ingham was 2nd one lap down and Belinda Castree finished 3rd.
The Veteran Division saw Grant Goudge taking 1st, Hans Hirschi 2nd, Chris Roque rounding out the top 3.
Sarah Bonnett was the only Female Veteran Division racer, while the Male B Division was won by Ricky Sousa, Blake Camara finished 2nd and Jenai Robinson finished 3rd.
The Male Novice Division saw Garth Fleming ride to victory, Wendell Burrows was 2nd and Shawn Gravito finished in 3rd.
Blake Oliveira won the Male 13-15 Division, Finn Clarkson crossed the line second and Liam Flannery finished 3rd.
Megan Hands was the only Female 13-15 Division racer, while the Male 12 & Under Division saw Odin Heinz taking 1st, Jonah Trott was 2nd and Gordon Smith finished in 3rd and the Female 12 & Under Division winner was Chelsea Lomas, with Lindsay Hayward finishing in 2nd.
