Former World 9th ranked Men’s Tennis player Wayne Ferreira was once again in attendance on Day Seven which was Semi-Final day of the Annual International Tennis Federation (ITF) & COTECC (Central American and Caribbean Tennis Confederation) Bermuda International Junior Tennis Tournament going on at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium.
Ferreira’s son was eliminated from the tournament on Day Six, but like he has on previous days he was yet again watching the action, which he told www.islandstats.com, “I am really impressed with the level these kids are playing at, we found out about the tournament by looking on the schedule and decided to give it a go.”
Ferreira went on to say, “We will be back next year and I will have to bring the entire family, Bermuda is beautiful and the people are special.”
In the Semi-Finals Girls number one seed American Alana Smith advanced to the final with a straight sets 6-2, 7-6 victory over fellow American Jennifer Gadalov, while the other Semi-Final saw another American Christina Sisti advance with a three set 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory over fellow American Imani Graham.
There was drama in the Boy’s Semi-Finals, with the number one seed Morgan Dill from USA falling ill on the court suffering from heat exhaustion and had to retire advancing fellow American and number eight seed Blaise Bicknell to the final, he will face off against Mexican and sixth ranked Santiago Hinojosa who defeated the number two seed American Robert Hammond in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
