Henry Smart has positioned himself perfectly for a shot at the title, taking sole possession of first place after three challenging rounds of the Goslings Bermuda Open at the brisk and breezy Port Royal Golf Course.
Smart carded an Even Par 71 on Friday, a solid score in the conditions, to move to 5-under par for the tournament, creating a crucial buffer ahead of the final round. His third round included four birdies, balanced by four bogeys and ten pars.
Chasing Smart are two players who struggled slightly in the difficult scoring conditions on Friday.
Peter Knade currently sits in second place at 3-under par overall. He finished his third round with a 2-over par 73, carding three birdies, five bogeys, and ten pars. He now trails the leader by two shots.
Tyler Hull holds third place at 2-under par. Hull also signed for a 2-over par 73, but his round was eventful, featuring an eagle, two birdies, ten pars, four bogeys, and one double bogey. He enters the final round three shots off the pace.
The tournament is serving as valuable preparation for several local players set to compete in the upcoming Butterfield Bermuda Championships.
Kenneth Leseur and Michael Sims are currently tied for seventh place at 2-over par. Both players will be pleased with their positioning ahead of the final day.
Meanwhile, the other Bermudian player heading to the PGA Tour event, Oliver Beschart, is in a tie for 10th place at 7-over par as he looks to sharpen his game.
The final round promises a thrilling finish, with Smart aiming to hold off the chasing pack and convert his lead into a win.
