The National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street played host to a thrilling conclusion to the Bermuda Equestrian Federation's FEI Jumping World Challenge, with Abby Bardgett and JayLynn Hines emerging as the overall champions in their respective categories.
The third and final round of the challenge saw riders and their equine partners tackle challenging courses, showcasing their skill and precision. The 1.20m-1.30m Category A Division provided a dramatic start to the day. Abby Bardgett, riding Causing Chaos, demonstrated impressive speed and agility, completing the course in 61.81 seconds. However, 13 penalty fault points meant they had to hold their nerve to win. JayLynn Hines and Toto D’ysenbeeck finished a close second, with 20 penalty fault points and a time of 62.41 seconds.
Abby Bardgett continued her dominance in the 1.10m-1.20m Category B Division, this time riding Cruise Control. She delivered a swift round, completing the course in 60.33 seconds, despite incurring 12 penalty fault points.
Bardgett completed a clean sweep of victories in the 1.00m-1.10m Category C Division. Riding Up Up & Away, she produced a controlled round, incurring just 4 penalty fault points in a time of 56.36 seconds. Georgia Hughes, riding Casichacco, finished second with a time of 65.24 seconds and 4 penalty fault points. Sierra Wolffe, riding Made You Look, secured third place with a time of 68.74 seconds and 4 penalty fault points. Unfortunately, Kamali Tucker riding Tugano Van Klapscheut, and Michael Rodrigues riding Rambo, were both eliminated.
Following the culmination of the three competitions, with the riders' lowest score dropped, the overall winners were determined. JayLynn Hines emerged victorious in Category A, demonstrating consistent performance throughout the challenge. Abby Bardgett, meanwhile, secured a double victory, winning both Categories B and C, highlighting her exceptional talent and versatility.
The FEI Jumping World Challenge provided a platform for Bermuda's equestrian athletes to showcase their abilities and compete at a high level. The event’s conclusion saw the crowning of well deserved champions, who demonstrated determination and skill. The event was a great success for the Bermuda Equestrian Federation.
