Kiwon Waldron's exciting debut season at Hawthorne Race Course continued with another action-packed night, featuring not one, but TWO photo finishes.
Just 24 hours after grabbing his first win at the Illinois track, the Bermudian driver found himself battling it out down to the wire in both of his races.
In Race 3, Waldron piloted Hector Herrera in the Pace Class. The race went down to the wire, with a blanket finish for second, third, and fourth place. After a tense wait, Waldron was awarded third place with a time of 1:54 flat – the exact same time as the horses finishing in second and fourth. Talk about a close call!
The drama didn't stop there. In Race 7, another Pace Class event, Waldron took the reins of Always B A Lady. Once again, it was a nail-biter! The judges had to go to the photo to separate the horses finishing second through fifth. Waldron ultimately ended up in fifth place with a time of 1:58&3, the same time as four other drivers.
Waldron's aggressive driving style and knack for finding the right position have clearly made an impression at Hawthorne, could another victory be just around the corner? Stay tuned!
