Kiwon Waldron pulled off a breathtaking upset at Harrah's Hoosier Park, guiding longshot Mary's Magic to victory in the third race of the night. The duo defied 32-1 odds, unleashing a powerful stretch drive to capture the one-mile conditioned trot in a time of 1:55&4.
Starting from post six in a crowded field of ten, Waldron patiently positioned Mary's Magic behind the leaders, biding his time for the perfect moment to strike. As the race unfolded, Waldron expertly navigated the Trotting mare through traffic, making a decisive move in the stretch to surge past the competition and claim an improbable victory.
This triumph marks Waldron's 13th win of the meet at Harrah's Hoosier Park, solidifying his reputation as a skilled and rising star in the harness racing world. In other races on the night, Waldron piloted Sweet Dee to a seventh-place finish in Race 6, clocking a time of 1:55&4. In Race 12, he guided Sweet Tell to a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:53&4.
Bermuda's Equestrian Stars Shine at Caribbean Dressage Challenge
Bermuda's Equestrian athletes showcased their grace and precision at the National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street, hosting the Bermuda leg of the prestigious Caribbean Equestrian Association (CEA) Dressage Challenge.
The competition, featuring tests from Training Level 3 and above, saw impressive performances from both junior and adult riders.
In the Junior Team Division, Lila Readdy and Edelweiss impressed with a score of 68.4% in the Training Test 3 Level Class. Grace Lightowler, riding Patrick, achieved a score of 63.87% in the Third Level Test 3 Class. Georgia Hughes and Cassichaco rounded out the junior team with a score of 61.25% in the First Level Test 3 Class.
The Adult Team showcased their skills with Laura Williamson and Black Tie Affair earning a score of 72.4% in the Training Level Test 3 Class. Vee McKey, partnered with Finest Hit, achieved a score of 71.47% in the Second Level Test 3 Class. Abby Bardgett and Cruise Control completed the adult team with a score of 67.17% in the First Level Test 3 Class.
The CEA Mini Challenge Introductory Test to Training Level 1 Class saw promising performances from Bermuda's rising stars. Chloe Mello and Memory Lane Paparazzi shone with a score of 70.19% in the Intro B Class. Grace Lightowler, this time riding Mr. Worldwide, achieved a score of 72.04% in the Tr 1 Class. Peyton Hines and Farsi Forza rounded out the competition with a score of 68% in the Intro B Class.
