The thunder of hooves and the roar of the crowd returned to the National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street as the Bermuda Harness Pony Racing season kicked off in thrilling fashion. The evening was filled with edge-of-your-seat action, culminating in a series of photo finishes that left spectators breathless. Results are unofficial until all protest have been heard
The official judge had a busy night, with five out of twelve races requiring a photo finish to determine the victor. The excitement reached fever pitch with three consecutive photo finishes in the first half of the racing card.
In the 1:06&2 to 1:09&4 Time Bar Class, Candyce Martins and Rockin My Business emerged victorious in a nail-biting finish, clocking a winning time of 1:07&4. Jashaun Young and Holy Grail, pushing them all the way, were awarded second place with the same time.
The 1:04&1 to 1:06&1 Time Bar Class produced another photo finish thriller. Colin Mello, driving Itsallaboutme, crossed the line in 1:06&3, just ahead of Tahzii Flood and Inwoods Realist, who also clocked the same time.
The photo finish frenzy continued in the next race, as Darico Clarke and A Touch of Red were declared the winners of the 1:04&1 to 1:06&1 Time Bar Class with a time of 1:07&4. Teshi Zuill and Gold-N-Glory, in a remarkable display of speed, shared the same time but had to settle for second place.
The opening night of the harness pony racing season delivered a spectacle of close finishes and exhilarating competition, setting the stage for a thrilling season ahead.
