Bermudian cyclist Gabriella Arnold showcased her endurance on the continental stage this Saturday, securing a 39th-place finish in the Elite Women’s Road Race at the 2026 Pan American Road Cycling Championships.
The race, a grueling 120.6 km test through the Colombian heat of Cereté, near Montería, drew a world-class field of professionals from across the Americas. Under the guidance of team manager Dominique Mayho, Arnold navigated a fast-paced peloton that remained largely intact despite several attempts to split the field.
The victory went to Chile’s Catalina Soto Campos, who added the continental title to her recent national double. Soto Campos claimed gold in a clinical bunch sprint, stopping the clock at 2:59:20 to edge out Argentina's Julieta Benedetti and Colombia's Diana Peñuela.
Arnold crossed the line in 2:59:54, finishing just 34 seconds adrift of the lead group in what proved to be a high-velocity finale. Her 39th-place finish marks a solid performance in a field of elite regional talent, providing a vital benchmark as she continues her 2026 international campaign.
The focus for the Bermuda contingent now shifts to Sunday, where Nicholas Narraway and Kaden Hopkins will lead the island's charge in the Elite Men’s Road Race.
