Bermuda’s golfers have made a phenomenal start to the Caribbean Golf Association (CGA) 4-Ball Championship at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course, with the pairing of Tracy Burgess and Ann Symonds establishing a commanding lead in the Ladies 45+ Division after the first round.
The standout performance of the day came from Burgess and Symonds, who posted a superb round of 1-over par 73. Their excellent score gives them a significant four-stroke advantage heading into the second round. Jamaica are currently their closest challengers at 5-over par, with the Cayman Islands in third at 12-over par.
In the younger women's category, the Ladies 25+ Division, the Bermudian pair of Morgan Lightbourne and Sarah Dwyer also positioned themselves well, ending the day in third place at 9-over par. Jamaica lead this division with an opening round of 4-over par, followed closely by Trinidad and Tobago just one stroke back.
In the Mid Amateurs category, the pair of Richard Marriott and Jonathan James finished their first round at 8-over par 80, leaving them in 7th place. This division saw exceptionally low scoring, with Trinidad & Tobago setting a blistering pace to lead the field at 5-under par 67. Cayman Islands are in second at 1-under par, while Jamaica B sits at Even par.
The Seniors Division is tightly contested, with Bermuda's Mark Ray and Roger Brangman firmly in the hunt. They are part of a three-way tie for second place, two strokes behind the early leaders, Barbados, who shot an impressive 3-under par 69. Ray and Brangman are level with teams from Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica.
Finally, the most senior category saw Bermuda claim a share of the lead. Quinton Sherlock Sr and Hav Trott finished their opening round at Even Par 72 in the Men’s 70+ Division, tied for first place with Jamaica. The Bahamas sit just one stroke behind them.
