The National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street hosted an action-packed afternoon of harness pony racing, with close finishes and exciting battles providing thrills for spectators.
The first race of the day, the 1:04&0 & Faster Time Bar Class, went down to the wire. Robert Lopes, driving War Machine, emerged victorious with a winning time of 1:03&2. However, the battle for second place required a judge's decision, as Maurice Raynor with Rockeyed Optimist and Katrina Sharman with Red October both clocked identical times of 1:03&4. Raynor was ultimately awarded second place.
Heat Four, the 1:05&2 – 1:06&1 Time Bar Class, also provided excitement. DJ Burchall, in the bike of Kool the Fire, secured victory with a time of 1:06&1. Tahzii Flood and Inwoods Realist followed closely behind, finishing second with a time of 1:06&2.
These close finishes and competitive races highlight the excitement and unpredictability of harness pony racing in Bermuda.
