Commonwealth Games Spotlight - Tyler Butterfield

A total of Eighteen (18) athletes will represent Bermuda at the XX Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23rd to August 3rd, 2014.

Today www.islandstats.com continues with the Spotlight on an athlete that will be vying for Medals at the Games. We bring you Triathlete Tyler Butterfield.

Name: Tyler Butterfield

Date of Birth: February 12, 1983

Q. What is something many people don’t know about you?
A.
Even though I talk a lot I actually like quiet time!

Q. How did you first get involved in Track and Field?
A.
I started in Ironkids when I was really young! It’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Q. Did you have a particular Track idol?
A.
Dave Scott and Mark Allen- they still are!

Q. When did you realize that you wanted Compete Internationally?
A.
I left for Australia when I was 19 and have been on the road ever since.

Q. What would you describe as your strongest discipline? A. I’m a Bike-Runner.

Q. Which do you feel needs the most improvement?
A.
That’s an easy one- my Swim!

Q. What one moment in your Sport to date are you most proud of?
A.
Winning Abu Dhabi this year. I wasn’t expecting it at all but everything fell into place for me.

Q. What are your goals for the rest of 2014?
A.
To have a strong Commonwealth Games and Ironman World Championships in October.

Q. Can you give an insight into an average week of training for you?
A.
I make sure I get in 3 good Swims, 3 good Bikes, and 3 good Runs. Everything else is a bonus.

Q. Is this your first Commonwealth Games?
A.
This will be my 3rd my Commonwealth Games. I’m honored to represent Bermuda again in Glasgow.

Q. If No list the other Commonwealth Games that you participated in?
A.
Manchester in 2002 for Triathlon, Melbourne in 2006 for Cycling.

Q. What do you do when you’re not taking part in Track and Field?
A.
Hang out with my 2 young children and my wife. I like the quiet life!
