Seri Fisher returns to Bermuda with two Silver Medals earned competing in the prestigious North American Karate Open Championships, held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This event is a World Championship Qualifier, 21 countries sent over 2000 athletes to compete. They required 10 competition rings with two Karateka performing simultaneously in the same ring during the 3-day event.
Fisher won a Silver Medal in both her disciplines of traditional Kata and Kobudo (Weapons) using a Bow or Staff.
Unbeaten in the Kata competition in Bermuda this was Fisher’s stiffest test and a huge step up in level, certainly, the Gold Medal winner was older, and with a higher belt rank the Japanese/American was extremely talented and well-trained.
To win the Silver/Bronze shootout Fisher had to overcome a tough Irish opponent the match went to a spilt decision in Bermuda’s favor.
Fisher thanked her trainers Sensei’s Roots Phillips, Talia Iris, and Darrel of Zenji Ryu dojo.
