Bermuda Team Confirmed for Bowling World Cup

As www.islandstats.com previously reported, Bowlers David Maycock and Patrice Tucker are heading to the Bowling World Cup in Palembang Indonesia. This year marks the 55th Edition of this prestigious event.

Maycock will be making his second appearance at this event, finishing 15th at the 2015 event in Las Vegas while Tucker will be making her first appearance at the World Cup.

The Pair will be up against bowlers from 85 Countries competing for the honor of 2019 World Champion.

The tournament runs from November 17th – November 23rd 2019 and will be held at the impressive Jakabaring Sport City, host of the 2018 Asian Games.

The Men and Women will bowl in separate Divisions. The Preliminaries consist of four blocks of six games for a total of 24 games before the cut is made to the top 24 in each Division. The top 24 will bowl an additional eight games before the cut is made to the final eight. The top eight will bowl eight games of match play to determine the four who will advance to the TV step ladder finals which will be aired all over Asia and Europe.

Bermuda’s highest finish at the world cup has been second place on two occasions when well known Bowler Hattieanne Morrissette finished second at the 1977 & 1979 events in Manila Philippines and Bangkok Thailand.

The duo will be accompanied to the Far East by Team Official Steven Riley.
