NSGB Recognition Policy Introduced

IslandStats.com
In seeking to ensure that sport activities in Bermuda are offered by organizations that operate in a safe and effective manner, provide high quality programming and develop their sport, the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, has introduced the National Sport Governing Body (NSGB) Recognition Policy.

The policy assists the department in identifying and recognizing sport organizations that will meet these requirements and who can partner with the government to develop a high functioning and effective sport system.

Under the policy, all current and prospective sporting organizations had to apply to the Government of Bermuda to become a recognized National Sport Governing Body (NSGB) by April 5th, 2019. Applications will be analyzed so that the department can report on each organization's status before the end of May. All those sporting organizations which are granted NSGB status will be able to apply for a grant for the 2020/21 budget. For those organizations which are not yet registered, they can contact the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation at 295-0855.

The policy was announced by the Minister of Sports Lovitta Foggo at The Association of National Sports Governing Bodies' General Assembly Meeting on December 1st at the CedarBridge Academy, where it received resounding support from the NSGBs.
