Behind a massive offensive effort from their starters, Linden Jackson and his Olds College Men’s Basketball teammates got past St. Mary's University 99-79 at the Ralph Klein Center.
Jackson continued his stellar offensive season, putting up 46 points to lead Olds College to victory. Jackson also brought in ten rebounds to record a double-double while shooting 20/33 from the floor.
In 36 minutes of action Jackson would add 5 assist and 1 steal.
Olds College started the game hot, quickly jumping ahead to a 25-19 lead at the end of the first quarter due to timely scoring from both inside the paint and from the outside. Jackson showed his athleticism early, constantly driving the hoop, drawing fouls, and scoring points close to the basket.
The second quarter was much of the same, as Olds College went to the locker room up 49-39.
St. Mary's University got within two points in the third quarter, forcing more turnovers, knocking down more of their looks, and capitalizing on Olds College’s inability to hit the three ball. However, late in the quarter Jackson hit two big buckets to restore a six point lead for Olds College, up 69-63.
Olds College came out of the break strong offensively, taking a stranglehold of the game by scoring 22 points in 7 minutes to take a 14 point lead with three minutes remaining. Olds College were able to milk the rest of the clock, making their way to their second win of the season.
