The domestic football calendar in Bermuda is set to intensify this week as the Bermuda Football Association Women’s League prepares for its 2026 season opener on Wednesday, May 13th.
In a move designed to centralize the action and build atmosphere, all fixtures for the upcoming campaign will be staged at Bernard Park. The season is scheduled to run through June 26th, with a final completion date for all league business set for June 30th.
The battle for supremacy features a compact but highly competitive four-team field. The Somerset Lady Trojans enter the campaign as the team to beat, looking to defend the title they secured last season.
They face stiff competition from a formidable PHC Lady Zebras outfit and the ever-present Dandy Stars. Rounding out the division is the Under-17 Select side, a squad comprising the island’s most promising youth prospects who will be looking to test their tactical development against senior opposition.
In a bid to maximize exposure and support for the women's game, the BFA has implemented a strategic schedule. Matches will primarily take place on Wednesdays and Fridays, with kickoff times staggered at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Significantly, the association has paired several of these fixtures with the Men’s Under-23 league, creating a series of high-profile double-headers at Bernard Park. This integrated approach aims to draw larger crowds and foster a unified environment for the island's emerging talent.
With the international window looming in June—featuring the senior national team’s double-header against Belize—the domestic league provides a vital platform for local players to maintain match fitness and catch the eye of the national selectors.
