Trott & Cardiff Extend Run as Promotion Party Continues

IslandStats.com
Rubin Colwill’s clinical second-half header extended Nathan Trott and his Cardiff City teammate’s unbeaten run to six matches as the Bluebirds secured a 1-0 victory over Port Vale, a result that officially confirmed the visitors' relegation to League Two.

Fresh from sealing their promotion at the weekend, Brian Barry-Murphy’s side maintained their professional edge in front of a celebratory home crowd. The decisive moment arrived in the 79th minute when Chris Willock delivered a pinpoint cross to the far post, allowing the Wales international to rise and nod home his eighth goal of the season.

Despite Cardiff’s territorial dominance, the Valiants—fighting for their League One lives—almost took a shock lead early in the second period. An in-swinging corner from Gordon found Ben Garrity, whose goal-bound header seemed destined for the net until Nathan Trott produced a sensational diving save to maintain the deadlock.

The clean sheet was Trott’s 16th of a standout campaign, further cementing his reputation as one of the division’s most reliable stoppers. The Bermudian international has now appeared 41 times for the Bluebirds this season, providing the defensive bedrock for their successful promotion charge.

While the Cardiff City Stadium celebrated another step toward the season's conclusion in style, the result left Port Vale unable to bridge the gap to safety. For Cardiff, the focus now remains on finishing the campaign with momentum as they prepare for a return to the Championship.
