Bermuda’s Dylan Muso produced a scintillating final-round performance to propel McDaniel College onto the podium at the prestigious NCAA Premier Collegiate Tournament.
Muso was in inspired form, carding a two-under-par 70 to spearhead his team's charge during the closing stages of the event. His round was a masterclass in attacking golf, featuring six birdies and eight pars, which proved enough to offset four bogeys on a testing layout. Thanks to Muso’s contribution, McDaniel finished the tournament at 13-over par to secure third place. They were narrowly beaten to the runner-up spot by Salisbury, who finished at 12-over, while Drew University were crowned convincing champions with a total of six-over par.
Muso finished T8th at 2-over par on the Individual Leaderboard.
Closer to home, the Bermuda Golf Association’s March Monthly Medal at Ocean View Golf Course saw a high standard of play across multiple divisions. In the Men’s First Flight, Jonathan James claimed the top spot with a resilient three-over-par round, finishing just one stroke ahead of Damian Palanyandi. Roger Brangman and Cornell Bean shared the third position, both finishing five-over for the day.
The Ladies Division was dominated by Tracy Burgess, who navigated the breezy conditions to finish three-over par, a comfortable six strokes clear of Morgan Lightbourne. Katrin Burnie rounded out the top three with a score of 13-over. In the Men’s Second Flight, Lamont Marshall secured the honours with a 15-over-par performance, holding off challenges from Shawn Wade and Gareth Tavares.
The Senior Men’s competition provided some of the day's best scoring, with Arthur Jones finishing as the only player under par. His impressive one-under-par round saw him take the First Flight title ahead of Mark Ray and Hav Trott. In the Second Flight, Sinclair Trott claimed victory with a seven-over-par total, finishing well ahead of Miles Stephens and Aaron Adams.
The island's youth prospects also took to the fairways in the Junior Division. Lewis MacFarlane showcased his potential in the White Tees flight for ages 12 to 14, finishing two-over par to beat Damian Moniz. In the Red Tees flight, Joshua Cann took the win with a 16-over-par total, followed by Bradford Laing and Arthur Cooper.
