Trojans Crowned Champions as Social Club’s Relegated

IslandStats.com
Somerset Trojans have secured the First Division title on a dramatic weekend of Bermudian football that also saw Young Men’s Social Club relegated from the Premier Division.

PREMIER DIVISION

North Village Rams 5 Young Men Social Club 2

The top flight provided equal measures of heartbreak and hope. At Bernard Park, Young Men’s Social Club saw their relegation officially confirmed following a 5-2 drubbing at the hands of North Village Rams.

The Rams were ruthless, racing into a lead through Jai Bean and Che’Kai Caisey. Despite a spirited second-half effort from the Social Club, including goals from Z’Chai Jennings-Barnett and Ryan Parris, the North Village attack proved too potent. Jalen Harvey, Jonte Smith, and Tah-ki Tucker all found the net to send the home side down.

PHC Zebras 1 Paget Lions 0

PHC Zebras refused to blink, keeping the pressure on the Hornets with a narrow 1-0 win over Paget Lions.

It took until the 85th minute for Kadeem Abraham to find the breakthrough, ensuring the title race goes down to the wire.

Dandy Town Hornets 2 X-Road’s 0

Dandy Town Hornets maintained their grip on first place with a professional 2-0 win over X-Road’s at White Hill Field.

David Jones opened the scoring in the 36th minute before Enrique Swan ensured the points stayed with the league leaders late in the second half.

Boulevard Blazers 1 Devonshire Colts 5

Devonshire Colts ensured their title aspirations remain intact with a ruthless 5-1 dismantling of the already-relegated Boulevard Blazers. The afternoon belonged to Chemarl Henry, who effectively settled the contest with a clinical first-half hat-trick.

Henry scored in the 10th minute, 22nd, and 32nd to complete his treble, Doreiko Walker scored the only goal for the Boulevard Blazers

The Colts refused to take their foot off the gas in the second half, with Shane Robinson adding a fourth in the 77th minute and Senoj Mitchell rounding out the scoring six minutes from time to cap a professional performance.

Devonshire Cougars 6 St. George’s Colts 1

In the evening’s other standout fixture, Devonshire Cougars produced a masterclass in attacking football to sweep aside St. George’s Colts 6-1.

The Cougars established their dominance early through D’ari Coddington, who found the net in the 7th minute. Veteran talisman Domico Coddington doubled the advantage after half an hour, setting the stage for a second-half onslaught.

Chae Brangman and Charmari Burns added further goals before Justin Bell took centre stage, netting twice in the final fifteen minutes. St. George’s managed a solitary consolation goal through Blaiz Hall in the 78th minute, but it did little to dampen a night of total dominance for the Cougars.

FIRST DIVISION

Robin Hood 0 Somerset Trojans 2

The Trojans reached the promised land at the PHC Stadium with a clinical 2-0 victory over Robin Hood. After a tense, goalless first half, Leo Burgess took centre stage.

Burgess broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 50th minute before pouncing on a misplaced backpass twenty minutes later to double the lead and spark championship celebrations.

Somerset Eagles 1 Southampton Rangers 1

Somerset Eagles and Southampton Rangers shared the points in a 1-1 draw at White Hill Field, with Nathan Rego and Malachi Jones trading goals just a minute apart in the first half.

St. David’s 3 Vasco 1

At Lord’s in St. David’s, the home team defeated visiting Vasco 3 - 1.

Aaron Paynter gave St. David’s the lead in the 11th minute, he would double the lead three minutes later. Jayden Smith pulled a goal back in the 45 minute.
