The fairways of Devonshire were bathed in tradition as the 72nd Annual Memorial Golf Tournament reached a thrilling conclusion at the Ocean View Golf Club. In a tournament defined by clinical shot-making and unwavering composure, four new champions were etched into the club’s storied history books on a morning that celebrated both the competitive spirit and the memory of the island's golfing pioneers.
The headline act of the day was undoubtedly Daniel Augustus, who delivered a masterclass in the Professional Division. Playing with the confidence of a man in peak form, Augustus carded a superb three-under-par 67 to distance himself from a heavyweight field. He faced stiff opposition from the experienced Chaka DeSilva and the legendary Dwayne Pearman, both of whom turned in resilient rounds of 70 to share second place, but neither could quite reel in Augustus as he marched toward the title.
In the Men’s Division, Samuel Robinson emerged as a clear victor after navigating the challenging coastal conditions with impressive consistency. Robinson’s round of 80 was enough to see off the chasing pack, with Rahji Edness finishing in second place with an 88 and Aaron Bean securing third with a 90. The Senior Men’s Division proved to be a much tighter affair, as Earlston Wolffe showcased his enduring class to card a 76 and claim the silverware. Wolffe was pushed to the wire by Richard Jones, who finished just two strokes back with a 78, while Calvin Richardson rounded out the podium with a 79.
The Ladies Division was dominated by Tracy Nash, who produced a composed performance to secure the championship. Nash’s round of 81 provided a comfortable cushion over Katrin Burnie, who finished in second place with an 85, and Ann Symonds, who claimed third with an 86. As the trophies were presented at the historic clubhouse, the event once again reinforced Ocean View’s status as the heartbeat of the local game, providing a fitting tribute to the legends who paved the way for today’s champions.
