White Showcases Resilience in French Road Race

IslandStats.com
Bermudian cyclist Conor White delivered a solid performance on the European circuit this week, navigating a brutal day of racing at the 61st Grand Prix de la Ville de Lillers Souvenir Bruno Comini in France.

Representing the British elite squad Jakroo Handsling Racing, White was part of a massive 160-rider field that tackled the punishing 193.6km course through the Pas-de-Calais region. The race, a staple of the French spring calendar, lived up to its reputation as a grueling test of endurance and tactical awareness.

The race was defined by high speeds and relentless attacks from the outset. Belgian rider Jules Hesters, competing for Team Flanders-Baloise, ultimately claimed the victory in a thrilling finish, crossing the line with a winning time of 4:24:00.

Despite the intensity of the lead group, White remained composed within the main pack for much of the day. He crossed the finish line in 97th place overall, clocking a time of 4:24:22. His effort saw him finish just 22 seconds adrift of the winner, a testament to his ability to stay in contention across such a significant distance.

White’s performance was a key contribution to his team's efforts on the day. He was the third Jakroo Handsling Racing rider to cross the line, highlighting his growing consistency within the British-based outfit.

The result serves as further evidence of White’s versatility as he continues his 2026 campaign. Having already tasted success on the track earlier this season with a gold medal at the Pan American Track Championships, his ability to transition seamlessly back to the rigors of high-level European road racing underscores his status as one of Bermuda’s most promising cycling talents.

As the European road season intensifies, White will look to build on this resilient showing in Lillers as Jakroo Handsling Racing prepares for a busy schedule of spring classics.
