She doubled the advantage after 16 minutes before effectively putting the result beyond doubt by adding her second and Bermuda's third goal inside the half-hour mark. Suriname, who had hoped to build on their previous success against the U.S. Virgin Islands, struggled to contain the pace of the Bermudian attack. Welch compounded their misery shortly before the interval, matching her teammate’s brace with a clinical finish in the 32nd minute to ensure a four-goal cushion at the break.
The second half followed a familiar pattern as the hosts continued to dominate possession and territory. Gibbons-Thomas secured the match ball in the 63rd minute, completing a well-deserved hat-trick to make it five. The bench then played its part in the rout as substitute Nadia Medeiros joined the scoresheet within eight minutes of her introduction, coolly finishing to extend the lead to six.
There was still time for a final flourish from the irrepressible Gibbons-Thomas. The forward capped a sensational evening by claiming her fourth goal of the contest 16 minutes from time, underlining a dominant team performance that saw Bermuda keep a clean sheet while vastly improving their goal difference.
