The early pressure told after just four minutes when Evans Welch found the back of the net to provide the dream start for the home supporters at the National Sports Center.

The momentum stayed firmly with the hosts as Milan Gibbons-Thomas began her standout individual display. She doubled the advantage after 16 minutes before effectively putting the result beyond doubt by adding her second and Bermuda's third goal inside the half-hour mark. Suriname, who had hoped to build on their previous success against the U.S. Virgin Islands, struggled to contain the pace of the Bermudian attack. Welch compounded their misery shortly before the interval, matching her teammate’s brace with a clinical finish in the 32nd minute to ensure a four-goal cushion at the break.

The second half followed a familiar pattern as the hosts continued to dominate possession and territory. Gibbons-Thomas secured the match ball in the 63rd minute, completing a well-deserved hat-trick to make it five. The bench then played its part in the rout as substitute Nadia Medeiros joined the scoresheet within eight minutes of her introduction, coolly finishing to extend the lead to six.

There was still time for a final flourish from the irrepressible Gibbons-Thomas. The forward capped a sensational evening by claiming her fourth goal of the contest 16 minutes from time, underlining a dominant team performance that saw Bermuda keep a clean sheet while vastly improving their goal difference.

The result leaves Bermuda in a strong position heading into Monday’s crucial encounter with Bonaire. While they currently sit behind group leaders Panama on goal difference, the clinical nature of this performance suggests they are more than ready for the challenge ahead as they seek to progress in the competition.

Panama 8 Bonaire 0

Panama laid down a marker in their quest for the 2026 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship, dismantling Bonaire 8-0 in the opening match of Group B at the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium.

The Panamanians were in clinical form from the first whistle, overwhelming their opponents with a display of superior technical ability and physical presence. Cristabella Ríos and Shaday Mow led the charge, with both players bagging braces to put the result beyond doubt early in the contest.

The scoresheet was well-shared as Panama’s attacking fluidity left Bonaire struggling to find answers. Gabriela Rodriguez and Alisson Samudio each found the net, while the introduction of second-half substitutes only increased the pressure on the Bonaire defense. Vera Batista and Alexa Ortega both capitalized on their opportunities off the bench to round out the scoring and seal a comprehensive three points for the Central American side.
