Bermuda's rising sprint star Miles Outerbridge has officially announced his commitment to the University of Houston, choosing to continue his track and field career under the guidance of one of the sport's legends, Carl Lewis.
Outerbridge, currently in his final year at Montverde Academy in Florida, made his decision after a competitive recruitment process that included a consideration of the University of Iowa.
The 17-year-old sprinter, who is ranked 148th nationally among the 2026 Scholar Champion Athlete national boys recruits, shared his gratitude upon making the announcement.
“I am excited and proud to announce my commitment to the University of Houston!” Outerbridge stated. “I am beyond grateful to all my coaches back home and at Montverde who have allowed me to reach this point in my track journey. Along with a huge thank you to all my family who have supported me throughout.”
At the University of Houston, Outerbridge will train under the direct supervision of Head Coach Carl Lewis, the nine-time Olympic Gold Medalist. Outerbridge had the opportunity to meet the iconic coach during his official visit to the campus last month.
The commitment marks a significant step for Outerbridge, who is a product of the Bermuda Pacers Track Club and has demonstrated exceptional sprint form throughout 2025, including a personal best of 10.40 seconds in the 100m and 20.83 seconds in the 200m.
