The Fattire Massive mountain biking season has officially kicked off with the challenging Southshore Beach Trails race, setting an immediate high standard for the year ahead.
Riders battled the demanding terrain, delivering tight finishes and impressive endurance across both the one-hour and 30-minute events.
The men’s premier event saw a fierce contest decided by mere seconds after a full hour of racing.
Che'quan Richardson was declared the Open 60 Minutes Male winner, completing 11 laps of the course in a total time of 1:05:16. He managed to hold off a determined challenge from Kavin Smith, who finished a close second in 1:05:44. Just ten seconds separated the top three, with Brian Steinhoff securing the final podium spot with a time of 1:05:54.
In the Open 60 Minutes Female Division, Panzy Olander rode to a convincing victory. She completed 9 laps in 1:04:56, establishing a significant gap over her competitors.
Jennifer Wilson took second place, two laps down, clocking a time of 1:00:24, while Skye Ferguson rounded out the top three, finishing seven laps in 1:03:18.
The shorter 30-minute races also provided exciting action:
Open 30 Minutes Male: William Coatesworth secured the win, completing four laps in 30:47. He was closely followed by Manning Smith in second (31:33) and Sherman O. Darrell in third (31:39).
Open 30 Minutes Female: Olivia Bishop was the victor, crossing the line with a time of 36:33 to claim the title.
