Australia have completed a hat-trick of FIBA Asia Cup titles after a thrilling 90-89 victory over the People's Republic of China in Jeddah. The win cements Australia's status as a dominant force in the region, maintaining their unbeaten record since their tournament debut in 2017.
Australia were pushed to the limit, having to overcome a 14-point deficit early in the second period. A remarkable comeback, engineered by forward Xavier Cooks, turned the tide and set up a nail-biting finish.
Australia had cruised through their earlier games, with comfortable wins over the Philippines and the Islamic Republic of Iran, but the final proved to be a far sterner test.
Following the historic victory, Australia Assistant Coach David Patrick praised his team's performance. "I am so grateful for my journey with this amazing group of champions," he said.
