The 2025 Bermuda Bicycle Association's Road Racing season kicked off with a bang, as 46 riders across 23 teams took part in the VT Construction Team Time Trial at the Clearwater course.
The event, a staple in the Bermuda cycling calendar, provided an early test of fitness and teamwork, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
Steve Smith and Will Drea emerged victorious in the Open Men's Division, delivering a blistering time of 23:49. Their performance proved to be the fastest of the day, showcasing their early-season form. Adam Harbutt and Toby Wright finished second in the division, but third overall, clocking 24:10. Chequan Richardson and Steve Millington rounded out the Open Men's podium, finishing third in the division and fourth overall.
The Mixed Division title was claimed by Phil Mace and Jackson Langley, who posted the second fastest time of the day, 23:56. Darren Glasford and Dylan Eiselt secured second place in the division, finishing ninth overall with a time of 26:24. Neil MacGuinness and Jonah MacGuinness finished third in the division and 11th overall, clocking 26:45.
In the Junior Men's Division, Jens Drea and Sanchez Smith dominated, finishing 10th overall with a time of 26:38. Skye Ferguson and Charlotte Millington took the Junior Women's title, completing the course in 27:54, placing them 15th overall.
The strong turnout and competitive times recorded at the VT Construction Team Time Trial indicate a promising season for Bermuda cycling. The riders' early-season efforts will provide a foundation for their performances in the races to come.
