 Gianluca Bortoli IslandStats.com The Bermuda Pacers Track Club showcased their exceptional talent at the 2025 Speed Capital Caribbean Showcase in Miramar, Florida, with several athletes delivering outstanding performances as they aim to secure spots on Bermuda's Carifta Games team.
The event, held at the Ansin Sports Complex, brought together top athletes from the Caribbean, Florida, and surrounding states. It featured the inaugural Gatlin Foundation 100M event, where Olympic gold medalist Justin Gatlin personally awarded the champions.
"We're excited to offer a platform where emerging talents can compete at the highest level," said co-founder Luke Robinson. "Partnering with the Gatlin Foundation adds a prestigious element to our event, inspiring athletes to reach new heights."
Under the guidance of coaches Juma Mouchette, Gina Evans, and Monique Lugo, the Bermuda Pacers athletes rose to the occasion: Noree Robinson (17): Crowned champion of the inaugural Justin Gatlin 100m event with a blistering time of 10.74 seconds in the 17-18 category. Rianna Robinson (14): Dominated the distance events, winning the 3000m, 1500m, and 800m races. Eliana Bortoli (13): Won the 3000m and placed third in the 800m. Gianluca Bortoli (15-16): Secured gold in both the 1500m and 3000m. Jasmine Reid Rubaine: Claimed silver in the 200m and bronze in the 400m. Nazir Johnson (14): Earned silver in the 800m. Timothy Pearman (14): Won silver in the 1500m, bronze in the 400m, and placed fourth in the 800m. Sukanya Jobson (17): Took gold in the 800m. Kelise Wade (15-16): Secured bronze in the 1500m. Aaron Lugo (17): Won gold in the long jump. Jaeda Grant (15-16): Claimed gold in the 3000m and finished fourth in the 1500m. Raelyn Robinson: Finished fourth in both the long jump and 100m.
Several other Pacers athletes, including Lashee Jones, Dallas Hunt, Leilani Peters, Amaya Davis, Dalen Scott, Hannah Dill, and Azari Jones, achieved season-best or personal-best performances, demonstrating the club's depth of talent.
Dr. Freddie Evans, President of the Bermuda National Athletics Association (BNAA), congratulated the athletes and encouraged them to continue striving for Carifta qualifying standards. He also extended an open invitation to athletes from other sports to explore their potential in track and field. "If you play football, netball, cricket, rugby, swim, golf, sail, or do gymnastics and you think you have the ability to run, jump, or throw, come and test your skill and see if you can reach a Carifta qualifying standard," Evans urged.
