Mechanical Forces White to Abandon Spanish Road Race

IslandStats.com
Conor White's return to racing at the X Santa Vall Second Stage 115k Road Race in Spain was cut short by a mechanical issue.

White, competing for Muc-Off-SRCT-Storck, was forced to withdraw from the race.

At the 46km mark, he was positioned 81st with a time of 1:37:25.

However, the mechanical problem which saw his derailleur shear off his bike struck before the 84km mark, preventing him from completing the race.

For those who are not familiar, the rear derailleur is the mechanism that shifts the chain at the rear sprockets. There are many different models but they all share the same basic design and functionality. Derailleurs are secured to the bike with a mounting bolt to the frame’s derailleur hanger.
