LSU Men's Basketball Overcomes Halftime Deficit to Win

IslandStats.com
The LSU Tigers Men's Basketball team, led by Associate Head Coach David Patrick, secured a 74-61 victory over Alabama State at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers overcame a halftime deficit with a decisive 19-4 run in the second half to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

LSU faced a similar challenge to last year's contest against Alabama State, trailing by six points at halftime. Alabama State effectively attacked the basket in the first half, while LSU struggled with their shooting, connecting on only 8 of their field goal attempts and going 7-of-14 from the free throw line.

The Tigers regrouped in the second half, outscoring Alabama State 10-3 in the opening four minutes to take a 36-35 lead. However, Alabama State responded, pushing their lead back to 10 points with 12:38 remaining.

LSU then ignited a decisive 19-4 run, fueled by key baskets from Dji Bailey, Jordan Sears, and Derek Fountain. Fountain's layup and Sears' three free throws gave LSU a lead they would not relinquish. Cam Carter contributed a crucial three-pointer and two free throws, while Bailey added two more free throws to extend the margin to eight points with 5:51 remaining.
