Kings Reign Supreme & Flyboys Soar in Season Openers

The Berkeley Institute Gymnasium was buzzing with excitement as the Bermuda Basketball Association's league season tipped off with a thrilling doubleheader.

The Kings and the New Era Flyboys emerged victorious in their respective matchups, setting the stage for an action-packed season.

In the opening game, the Kings showcased their dominance with a convincing 64-43 victory over the Chargers. Mykal Glasgow was the star of the show, electrifying the crowd with a game-high 24 points. He attacked the basket with ferocity, showcasing his impressive scoring arsenal. Darae Smith provided solid support, chipping in with 11 points. Yusef Te'jour Riley was a force on the boards, dominating the rebounding battle, while Glasgow and Jason Lowe orchestrated the offense with their playmaking abilities, each dishing out 2 assists.

The Chargers struggled to contain the Kings' offensive onslaught. Steveland Brown-Darrell was a bright spot for his team, leading the way with 14 points. Kevin Stephens and Samuel Darrell battled hard on the glass, each grabbing 7 rebounds, while Stephens and Jaren Haley shared playmaking duties, contributing 2 assists apiece.

The nightcap featured a clash between the New Era Flyboys and Caesars the Answer.

The Flyboys soared to a 54-43 victory, fueled by a dominant performance from Jose Tapia. Tapia was a force on both ends of the court, recording a double-double with 20 points and 18 rebounds. He controlled the paint, grabbing every rebound in sight and finishing with authority around the rim. Akil Smith provided the offensive spark, adding 15 points and 3 assists.

Caesars the Answer fought valiantly but couldn't overcome the Flyboys' balanced attack. Denis Muli led his team with 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Jonathan Lugo added 13 points. Muli and Daniel Bryon shared playmaking responsibilities, each dishing out 2 assists.
