Malachi Scott and his Brock Badgers Men's Basketball teammates fell to the Nipissing Lakers 73-71 in a closely contested game at the Robert J Surtees Student Athletic Centre in North Bay, marking their second consecutive loss.
Despite a strong second-quarter performance where Brock erased a first-quarter deficit to take a six-point lead into halftime, fueled by Davante Hackett's nine points, Nipissing's sharp shooting in the third quarter, including five three-pointers, proved decisive.
Nemanja Sarkanovic led Brock’s scoring efforts with 17 points, shooting an impressive 7-of-9 from the field. Scott provided valuable contributions off the bench, recording four points, one rebound, and one block in six minutes of play.
Late foul trouble hampered Brock, culminating in a shooting foul in the final seconds that allowed Nipissing to seal the victory with successful free throws.
Brock struggled from three-point range, shooting just 20.8% compared to the Lakers' 37.8%, ultimately hindering their ability to overcome the deficit.
Brock will look to regroup and address their offensive consistency as they prepare for their upcoming games.
