Malachi Scott and his Brock University Men's Basketball teammates suffered an 80-63 defeat at the hands of the Laurentian on the road at the Ben Avery Gym in Sudbury.
Despite a strong second-quarter showing where Brock briefly held the lead, fueled by efficient three-point shooting (4-of-9), Laurentian's early dominance and stifling defense in the second half proved decisive. Laurentian capitalized on Brock’s turnovers, limiting their offensive opportunities and securing a comfortable victory.
Xavier Fearon and Anthony Heyes spearheaded the Brock’s scoring efforts with 12 points each, while Nemanja Sarkanovic facilitated the offense, dishing out a team-high five assists. Fearon, Sarkanovic, and Nils Gesmann shared the rebounding lead, each securing six boards.
Scott contributed valuable minutes off the bench, scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds in his four minutes of play.
While Brock demonstrated superior accuracy from beyond the arc, connecting on 10 three-pointers compared to Laurentian's seven, Laurentian ultimately controlled the game with a higher overall field-goal percentage (40% to 38.3%).
Brock will look to learn from this setback and regroup for their upcoming fixtures.
