Kaden Hopkins and his Vendee U Cycling teammates were back in action in the Final Stage of the 73rd Tour Cycliste International de la Guadeloupe in France, 95 riders remained in the running, for the 9th and last stage.
153.6 kms were on the menu of the day, between Pointe-à-Pitre and Baie-Mahault.
The peloton crossed the communes of Gosier and Les Abymes before starting 7 times on a circuit on Baie-Mahaultienne gravel.
Nine men threw the first break, Diego Milan, Baptiste Chardon, Quentin Bezza, Hopkins, Adam Mitchel, Charles Duquette, Jérôme Gauthier, Loris Coss and Poulido Castro gained up to a 3 minute lead.
But the peloton swooped down on the breakaways and put an end to their attempt.
Loris Coss and Quentin Bezza then took the lead for a while but were unable to hold on until the end.
It was in a sprint that ended on the last stage, with Hopkins (Vendée U Pays de La Loire) the fastest clocking 3:21:22. He finished ahead of Enrico Dhaeye (Philippe Wagner Bazin) and Philgy Marc Junior Palmiste (Convergence S.C. Abymienne).
Hopkins finished 27th overall in the Grand Championship clocking an overall time of 33:40:28, he is 55:55 behind the overall winner Kevin Castillo who has a combined time of 32:44:33.
Hopkins won the Green Jersey as the rider with the Most Points of 155. Hopkins and his teammates finished in 13th place with a combined time of 99:16:57.
