Competitors including Nicholas Pilgrim found out that the 2023 Americas Triathlon Cup Edmonton was switched to a Duathlon Format.
Organizers announced, “We regret to inform athletes that the swimming portion of the Americas Triathlon Cup, will not be happening this year.
We have been working closely with our partners including Alberta Health Services and unfortunately, the river water quality during the testing phase in the lead-up to the event does not meet the quality allowable for competition. Water quality in natural waters such as the river can change quickly due to rainstorms and events upstream.
The races will take place in a Duathlon format – Run, Bike, Run.
Competing in the Elite Men’s race, Pilgrim recorded a Did Not Finish.
