The global experience continues to grow in the WNBA, as Bermuda now enters the picture. When training camp begins May 15th in Phoenix, an island breeze will accompany them. A strategic relationship between Fuzion Athlete Management, Bermuda and S.K.Y. Streetball Syndicate has produced a big opportunity for two players chosen from the pool of growing Bermudian women basketball players. During the Bermuda Gas All-Star Weekend, players will be chosen to head to Phoenix on May 19th to experience a WNBA training camp.

“Everyone knows that I’m all about providing hope to others, and this is an extension of that,” said Temeka Johnson, starting point guard for the Phoenix Mercury. “This is a great opportunity to show others how difficult a road we have to travel to reach our goals. I’m proud to help empower other young women.”

Fuzion Athlete Management will be on hand at the Bermuda Gas All-Star Weekend event that will feature former WNBA Champion – Johnson – who will lead a skills clinic for the island. High performing players will be selected from the group, and will be flown to Phoenix for an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will have future ramifications to the globalization of the WNBA. The players will get to meet and learn from the Phoenix Mercury players, learn from front office executives about what it takes to make it in the WNBA, and learn from some of the best players and coaches in the world.

“For me, this is historic,” said Quency Phillips, CEO of Fuzion. “Dreams will become reality for the chosen players. Learning first-hand what it requires to play on that level can push a player beyond their own limitations. I appreciate Lee Greene, and S.K.Y. for having the foresight to bring this opportunity to life, and a special thanks to David Bascome for his role as a true sports ambassador for Bermuda.”

“What intrigues me most are the educational and community outreach missions that all involved have chartered,” expressed Greene, organizer of the S.K.Y. “We not only support, but compliment Fuzion and its’ players mission and look forward to building this relationship by speaking positively through the voice of sports. Johnson is a world leader in philanthropy with her work shown through the HOPE Foundation, and we’re honored to learn from her and grow with her.”

This event marks the start of a relationship that will speak to the heart of S.K.Y.’s mission to use basketball as a bridge to help educate our youth and create lasting experiences and opportunities.
