CedarBridge Academy Blue team was crowned champions at the Bermuda School Sports Federations Under 16 Senior School Boys Six-a-Side tournament at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence Field.
The CedarBridge Academy team capped off an undefeated day with a 3 - 0 victory over Somersfield Academy in the final.
CedarBridge took the lead in the second minute when the defense allowed Harlem Bean-Fox the space to power a fierce drive from well outside the box. Dakari Smith would double the lead near the end of the half when he was the first to react to a scramble in the area following a corner. Smith thought he scored his second late in the match but teammate Jaylen Heaven got the final touch before crossing the goal line.
CedarBridge cruised past Berkeley Gold 7-1 in their Quarter-Final matchup. Tyree Fubler led the way with a hat trick while Bean-Fox, Kodi Hines, Jaden Proctor, and Heaven added a goal each. Xoni Allen added a late consolation goal for Berkeley.
The other quarterfinal saw Berkeley Green edge past Saltus Red 2-1. River Curtis gave Berkeley the lead after he found himself the space to attack the Saltus goal with a breakaway. Declan Reardon equalized in the second half after a neat pass from Jack Fisher. Just when it seemed penalties were going to be needed to settle the match Joshua Smith gave Berkeley the 2-1 lead with the final kick of the match.
Berkeley Green then moved on the face Somersfield Academy in the Semi-Final. Misake Kitade put Somersfield Academy ahead 1 - 0 in the first minute of the match. Once again Berkeley found a late goal which sent the Semi-Finals to a penalty shootout. Kitade would score his side's final penalty as they advanced 5-4 on penalty kicks.
CedarBridge Blue defeated Saltus White 2-1 in the other Semi-Final. The match was fast paced with both teams attacking to find the opening goal. Cedar Bridges Tyree Fubler intercepted a casual back pass before slipping the ball into an empty net to give the Devonshire school a 1-0 which they would not give up. Heaven would score a close range effort late in the semifinal to secure the 2-0 win.
