Sophomore Mia Fishel from UCLA Women's Soccer has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready. Fishel had a hand in four of UCLA's five goals this weekend, scoring two, assisting on one, and drawing a penalty kick that won the game for the Bruins against Oregon State. Against No. 20 Oregon on Mar. 5, she scored in the 70th minute to double UCLA's lead to 2-0 and assisted on the game's third goal six minutes later to make it 3-0.
Against Oregon State on Mar. 7, she scored the game's first goal less than a minute before halftime, and in the overtime period, she drew a penalty kick after being fouled in the box, which Marley Canales converted for the game-winner.
Fishel now leads the team in scoring with nine points and is tied for the team lead in goals with four. The San Diego native has scored a goal in each of UCLA's last three games.
Fishel's performances last week earned her Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors, as well as National Player of the Week acclaim from Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News.
This is the first UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week award for Fishel this season and the third of her career.
